Once in a while, the universe throws certain invitations your way, to test you, to see if you’re ready to receive the gift that is being offered to you.
You may choose to accept or you may choose to decline.
Your choice will determine the quantity and quality of invitations you will receive in the future. So, choose wisely!
Why am I saying this? Well, just now, I entered the building I live in, and as I approach my apartment door a stream of pretty young girls comes flowing down the stairs.
“Hey, where are you going”, I smile. They smile back wishing me a good night and politely pass on by.
Then comes my neighbor’s girlfriend, the leader of the group, we chat, we joke and she invites me to join them.
And here, my friend, is where life throws you a bone. An invitation like that is like a sacred gift from God, a delightful game of chance. Yes, you do have to get up early tomorrow. Yes, you haven’t been clubbing in a while. But you might meet the girl of your dreams that very night. Who can say!
In fact, the chances of having a terrible time after gracefully being invited and accepting that invitation are — in my experience — phenomenally low.
It’s like there’s some intrinsic universal law that wants to reward your courage to say yes to life, yes to adventure, yes to the unknown.
And declining and repulsing such an inviting spirit, what a sin!
Yes, my love, this is how life is meant to be lived: from invitation to invitation. Each one holding the secret to the next. Each one a magical encounter on your unknown path.
The outcome is determined only by the people who enter your life and your willingness to embrace their being.
Why — isn’t the whole notion of discovering our life’s path intentionally a notion of ruin and self-deception?
Life happens; we either choose to play or sit on the sidelines watching.
As I pack my bags and prepare for the journey of a lifetime to a distant land — yes, I’m looking at you, Argentina — I am reminded once again that the most magical adventure that can ever be lived occurs daily right before our eyes.
All we have to do is embrace the uncertainty of it all and let ourselves be swept away by the mysterious invitation of a stranger.
